We actually sd the trail itself was very nice and would be great anytime besides the weekend. I was even surprised that zero trash was seen! Not a prefferable trail April, by rachel. Absolutely fabulous and bought a loaf to take with us! My riding partner and I rented bikes from PedalChic in downtown, and went out and back to Traveler's Rest 26 mile day total, with our detour.
It's a nice extension of Van Fleet, I can ride to my bike there rather than drive. They are very discourteous at best. Also many cyclists that didn't know much about trail rules and such. The houses on both sides of this trail are not well kept, a few houses have cars overflowing the backyard with a strong foul odor coming from them.
High speed riders decked out like they are in the Olympics trying to break the speed record is unsafe situation for small children. Nice November, by brandyfl79 I went to ck out the dog park for the 1st time and ended up leaving shortly after with my 3 small dogs to check out the trail instead.
Also encountered cyclist who were obsessed with the sport. We got lost and went the wrong direction in Greenville, which added an extra five miles and some frustration, but overall not a huge setback.
Only about half of this is Railtrail. Overall our trip was about 30 miles. This is a great trail with many great places to stop, eat and have a cold beverage.
I think they need better signage on the beginning of the trail from the point starting at the zoo. Also the trail is not well kept, Branches, dirt and debris was all over the trail.
No forgive the misspells etc 4 beers later Recently, one of the steel benches was uprooted by vandals in this section and left in the middle of the trail.
This trail heads north passing through the Auburndale sports complex area then under I-4 and eventually becomes the Van Fleet Trail at the trail head in Polk City. Now in one ear out the other i let it pass, well a month ago i asked my GF when will our daughter be off, of course with Easter holidays coming up i was given the dates.
The maintenance crew seems to be ever present, raping the scenic brush and never thoroughly cleaning up the debris they have left. When we started at the zoo we found a few spots that we weren't sure which way to go but we just asked people near us which way to Travelers Rest and they pointed us in the right direction.
Also would like to add that city officials for Auburndale and TECO have the worst sections of the trail. My daughter and I rode Lots of signs on the trail about the TR Farmers Market, I'd love to go back during the summer to visit that on my ride.
I think we would do that next time! The trail is much better and less crowded near Traveler's Rest and Furman. Gas powered vehicles on this section of trail.
Hardly any shade during the summer. It also has huge electricity pylons along it's length hence the name!
Very peaceful, nicely paved, plenty of shade and very well maintained. The on-line museum of North America's independent department stores. The museum holds all sorts of information about classic department stores which either no longer exist, or are changed beyond recognition.
